A first look into the multiviewer

OptiMist Team November 2, 2025 1 min read

Introducing the Multiviewer

With MistServer 3.10 we're launching a new exciting feature that allows you to combine multiple live feeds into one single stream. This can be used to create a picture in picture view, a grid containing multiple live feeds and even allows the addition of background or foreground icons/pictures through PNG with alpha channels.

We'll be adding a new source multiview which allows you to select, mix and match multiple streams within MistServer into one.

First look into setting up the multiviewer

We're seeing a lot of extra fun features we can add to this. We are still debating whether it would still be a "multiviewer" at that point, as we're getting closer to compositor territory.

Some additional featuers we're thinking that might go great with this:

  • Failover between streams, allowing another to pop up when another stops
  • Streams staying online/active even if the source drops
  • Advanced layering and live editing/adding/removing feeds
  • Syncing of multiple streams

If you're interested in any of these feel free to contact us!
