MistServer load balancer (beta) guide released

OptiMist Team April 5, 2026 1 min read

Hello everyone,

We've finished our long overdue beta guide for the MistServer load balancer. The load balancer has the awkward honor of being both in beta and active use for over 8 years already. The original planned features for the load balancer are all there. It's capable of monitoring several MistServers, spreading the load (both input & output) over them and allows you to make changes to what servers are monitored and how much certain resource availability should weight for when spreading the load.

We just never build a proper interface for it which held back the official release and by now we've got several other features planned. Like sharing configuration amongst servers and improving the user experience of the server (perhaps finally creating that interface).

Since it's still a mighty handy tool when setting up multiple MistServers we figured we finally document some of the usage and bring out a proper guide. Seems like a good match with our previous Ansible guide.
