Caching almost ready for MistServer
Back in January we reported working on caching within MistServer. Well the good news is that we're now close to starting our first tests with this feature. We're already seeing some great uses for this feature:
- We're seeing some great opportunities within our HLS distribution, making it much more efficient by allowing multiple users share HLS segments, but keep an individualized playlist.
- Keeping populair streams available in a faster storage so they're more responsive for playback
- Treat it as a temporary VoD stream folder
- Store encoded tracks
- Full fledged live DVR combining a live and Vod stream.
If the features passes testing quickly we might even be able to add it to the upcoming release of MistServer. Though more realistically it will be the one afterwards.
